Paid for by the Frank Wilds for Ward 5 Councilmember Committee, 5016 Eastern Avenue NE, Washington, DC 20017
Eddie Harrison, Treasurer. Our reports are filed with the Office of Campaign Finance, DC Board of Elections & Ethics.
Jobs, Jobs, Jobs! For Ward 5 Residents. Vigorous enforcement of the First-Source Law that requires companies receiving DC Government assistance to hire DC residents. If strongly enforced – which it has never been! – this could produce hundreds of good jobs for Ward 5 residents.
Effective Career Training. Poor management, waste, and corruption have destroyed the effectiveness of DC Government job-training programs. I will exercise vigilant oversight to assure that training programs effectively prepare people for real jobs.
Better Services for Senior Citizens. We need recreation services that reach out to seniors in their homes and bring them into health-preserving social activities and physical exercise.
Economic Development That Improves Our Neighborhoods. New York Avenue, Rhode Island Avenue, and other areas are ripe for growth. Working with neighborhoods, I will insist that we get the right kind of development – projects that improve our neighborhoods.
Bringing A Government Center to Rhode Island Avenue. Now is the time to start work to bring a major DC or federal government office center to Rhode Island Avenue to trigger positive retail development and jobs.
A Middle School in Ward 5. It is an outrage that Ward 5 has been stripped of middle schools! I will do everything possible to restore a middle school to our Ward.
